Copyright & usage

Who holds the Copyright and Usage Rights of the project?

Tidal Flow Media LTD automatically holds the copyright of any completed project unless stated otherwise; this includes both the raw footage and edited version of such. The Copyright can be purchased alongside any product provided it is not already a part of the product, and if purchased, will be held by both Tidal Flow Media LTD and the client. In regard to Usage Rights, these are held by Tidal Flow Media LTD and the respective client. This right allows use of the edited raw footage to be shared across any platform, and does not allow for any edits to be made to the rendered video- for example, removal of the production credit. The Copyright does allow for edits to be made to both the raw footage and rendered project, as well as ownership of both.

Can projects be adjusted beyond product specification?

Yes- but please be aware that some additional features may incur a fee respective to the requested addition, for example, a copyright ownership fee, or upgrade to video resolution. All additional fees are outlined in the request forms for each respective product.

Can pricing be negotiated?

Pricing is set to standard rate, as we like to bill consistently. However, we do make compromises on the below factors: - Newly-established business* - Small or local charity (not a national charity, or sub-division of a national charity)** - Repeat business and ongoing relationship, established either before pricing changes, or overall consistent client *Registered company number must be provided **Registered charity number must be provided. Local to Portsmouth and surrounding cities within the county of Hampshire.

My project requires filming outside of Portsmouth. Can this still be arranged?

Yes- but please be aware that a completely separate travel fee will have to be added to the project. Our pricing across every product covers travel within the city of Portsmouth. This travel fee covers two things: the primary cost of the transport/fuel, as well as the time required for travel. We will provide receipts for public transport costs.

I'm not sure what my exact vision is. Can Tidal Flow still work with me?

We always aim to incorporate client vision first, followed by our ideas. However, if you or your organisation are unsure of such concepts and struggle with vision, we will work with you to establish the project and ensure the pressure of planning isn't so prominent. This will mean relinquishing creative input to us, but this will not remove any complimentary adjustments.

Filming

What is the difference between "shooting for edit" and "shooting for raw"?

Filming for edit means filming short clips without focus on stability, with the intent to use cutaway and b-roll to cover shaky footage. In contrast, shooting for raw means capturing shots with as much stability as possible, without requirement for cutaway, should the full raw footage be required for a different project. Some other differences may include: - Shooting without audio (shooting for edit)- some clips may be shot without focusing on clean audio - Overexposed (or underexposed shots)- filming quickly and reactively may reduce shot setup time; we use manual cinema cameras that require settings to be set correctly - Separate clip files for an extended piece- our main filming camera demands power, so at times filming long segments may require breaks to switch the v-mount battery. This mostly affects shooting for raw, as clip filming allows for breaks by default

Which events are covered by the filming products?

We will capture any form of content provided it is not discriminatory, heavily political or overtly sexual in nature. Our service is primarily applicable to corporate events. We will make concessions on any personal event, but the product pricing will be changed to reflect that- for example, weddings, as they can incur a higher workload within a shorter period, as well as require multiple devices to capture the event. Personal functions are included within this.

Design/Animation

My product has a typo- will this mean using the free adjustment/s?

We proof-read everything sent, but there is always a chance of something slipping between the cracks. In which case, provided the typo is highlighted before the distribution copy is sent, this adjustment would be our responsibility to correct, thus incurring no additional cost. The only stipulation to this would be any error made by the client when sending any text; we will check typography/spelling automatically, but any other errors will not be covered.

I've changed my mind about the animation/design style halfway through the project. Can it be changed?

We price animations at runtime, however a design change would incur additional time to complete the piece. In this case, we will charge for the additional time used on the animation; however it depends on the changes required. For example, colour scheme changes will incur a lower cost than design/icon/character changes. We will ensure to obtain as much clarity of vision ahead as possible to reduce the chance of changes being required.
